How come i can never get to the bottom of Which of the two Vintage giants sound the best.
Jbls best has 300 C50 SR8 or 4530 but Altec has A1 A3 A5 A7 A19.
Im comfused. Im looking for the most efficient but the sweetest midrange mid bass and deep cello bass sounding of them all with airy sweet pleasant highs not ear piercing.

Obvious your new here. In my minds eye, or ears, the A-7 can't be beat for mids. Unless you step up to a A-5 system. What makes these systems sound so good is that you can align the voice coils of both drivers at the cross-over frequency. The big drivers outplay the small ones but you loose high end. And it's all horn loaded. Hope this helps.
